(Tipmas) My Least Favorite Color

have it don't like it.jpg

My least favorite color makes absolutely no sense whatever. I love chocolate in all it’s forms, and have since I was a kid. Logic would dictate that I would associate brown with chocolate, and it would be a favorite. It doesn’t. I have some in my stash at this point, but it is not something I’m likely to gravitate to. when needing a dark color - I’m more likely to go to blacks or graphite grays than this one.

The colors that attract me are bright and (in general) happy colors. To get black, you mix red and yellow and then add a small amount of black to muddy it up. I don’t mind red, and I love yellow - so go figure. .

I truly don’t think a quilter should have a color they don’t use, so one of my goals next year will be to make brown a larger part of my quilting palette.

One challenge with this color is that, along with white, black and gray it doesn’t appear on a traditional color wheel, so plugging it into a color scheme such as complementary or analagous schemes. If you are looking at a contemporary color wheel, it’s often represented as a darker shade of orange - and in that case, you can pair it with a deep blue to make it work. This is going to be a project.

This is a favorite fabric - it just makes me think of a chocolate raspberry parfait.
