My Word of the Year - thank you, Mr. Feeny

A noun and a verb - all in one word!

One of my favorite catch phrases cretively is that Inspiration is Everywhere. For today’s blog post, I was inspired by a very wise (fictional) character, and also by a quilter whose work I admire. It’s almost the end of the year, and that means it’s time to revisit my 2022 word of the year - intentional, and usher in a new word for 2023.

In looking over the past several months, Intentional has served me well - and taken me places that I did not think I was going. This has been a full year, and also one where I had some personal issues to work out. I found myself having to revisit some things, and go back and do some more work in other areas…and each time, intentional was a word I kept close by as I made decisions as to what to keep and what to discard.

So, as I was beginning to think of a word to select as my guidepost for 2023, my inspiration came to me (appropriately enough) in the form of an Instagram Reel. To be totally honest, it came to me in the form of several reels, as this video clip from “Boy Meets World” has a lot of profound meaning in it. George Feeny is written as a wise educator, and William Daniels played him with such grace.

“…If you open yourself to experiences…”

Experience is my word for the year. For as long as I have been doing this exercise, I realize that the more I use the word, the more familiar - and tangible - it will become for me. 2023 spreads before me like an opened book, and I can’t wait to dive in.

Experience can be either a noun or a verb, which is another reason why it can be full of potential. I’m trying not to limit myself, but rather leaving it as an open book…we’ll see where 2023 takes me.

Off to experience some fabrics.
