(Tipmas) My Sunday mini-makeover

Keeping it real

Keeping it real

Today was a very odd sort of day here at home. We’re still zooming with friends and family, we put away a lot of the Christmas decorations, and I (for once in my life) began to think about what I’m doing for New Years Eve. That’s never a biggie on my calendar, but the traditional neighborhood party has been called off, and I want to see 2021 in before I go to bed on Thursday night.

I’ve been in decompression mode this weekend, and have seen a few videos on recovering my ironing board - thinking , how hard could it be? Well, first off - she was overdue for this. That cover must be at least 5 years old, and she needed something. The instructions were pretty straightforward on the videos I watched…it’s actually just a cover over the original.

Finding the fabric was a bit of a hunt…I didn’t want blue again, and many of the yardage cuts I have are one or one and a half yards, not long enough for this. I needed a piece 72 inches x about 20 inches wide. I had a couple of Tim Holtz Urban Elements pieces, but I couldn’t sacrifice them for this. In the end, this is a nice, boring piece from Henry Glass that will work nicely - and the other half of the piece will be a runner back, so I have used the fabrics well. I must have gotten that green on sale because I have a lot of it.

One hour later, and she looks ready to ring in the New Year. And that’s a good thing, because I have a lot of ‘pressing’ matters coming up right after the first of the year. More coming on that later this week.
