Peacock Gorgeous is here

I had always wanted to remake this tablerunner pattern- and ‘Peacock Gorgeous’ fits very nicely.

I had always wanted to remake this tablerunner pattern- and ‘Peacock Gorgeous’ fits very nicely.

So here is my first finish of the Peacock Christmas group of projects. This runner pattern is included in both my Hello, Gorgeous pattern, and the Christmas Gorgeous patterns, which will be available in August as part of this summer’s Rebranding sale. I’ve been wanting to update the runner pattern sample for a while, and this was a great opportunity to do just that. As you will see with the quilting, I have fully embraced my inner peacock with the quilting - I may have (!) gone off the deep end with the quilting, but it was so much fun to play with options.

And yes - if you look closely, you will see that I brought back heat set crystals - because why wouldn’t I?

I love how this photo, taken in the early morning, really shows off the quilting in this one. I pulled one of the fabrics from my group for the back, and I love how it embraces it.

I outlined the central motif using monofilament thread to avoid a lot of color changes (and to make sure the edges are secure, and then I added the texture with echo quilting. I’ve never done that before, but I really like the way it brought dimension to the piece. I had doubled the Bosal batting that I used with it, which really made the quilting stand out - that’s a trick I use more often than not.

You can really see the details in the echo quilting here - just don’t look too close!

In the borders of this, I switched to ruler work for the arcs and the outer borders - and I do love the bump back style of feathers around the edge. When I looked at it, there was no way a bland or plain black binding was going to work, so I set this off with a bit of my flange binding. It’s a bright, bold palette - and I like it! This was a fun, fast and bold shot of color - and I loved playing with my domestic machine. There’s more coming up!

Look for my patterns Hello, Gorgeous and Christmas Gorgeous to hit my website in early August - I am waiting for an ink cartridge to arrive. Once the original packages are sold out, this pattern will be available as either a pdf download or a physical pattern - with the templates with the new branding. My rebranding sale lets me clear physical space - and you get to save this. You’ll have plenty of time to sew this before December!
