A Great Gift Idea 2021!

Good morning! Welcome back to my blog as part of the 10 Days of Holiday Prep blog hop. I know that I’ve been getting a lot of inspiration from all the other bIoggers. Today, and I want to talk about how to decide what to gift to people. Once my husband and I get that part down on paper, shopping (either in person or online) is actually much, much easier.

My gift idea is practical, repeatable, you can personalize it in hundreds of ways, and its actually a great gift idea for ANY occasion. It’s also scrap friendly - but I’m not playing with my Christmas scraps for this one.. In the demo, I thought summertime - and the fabric that jumped out at my was a Robert Kaufman fabric that makes me think of sherbet with its’ pinks, oranges and raspberry colors.

A brightly colored case makes your readers easy to find

This gift is actually in two parts…readers (magnified glasses) and the case they go in. I have a group of friends that I regularly see, and when we meet for a meal, the glasses come out so we can see the menu. All of us - one of the side perks of being a certain age. I buy my glasses on Amazon (because I can buy them in quantity - there’s some in every room in my home!), and many times, there are no cases with them. My solution to this is to make a simple glass case for them, and that helps them to last longer. I’m a fan of bright colors for the cases in my purse because it’s easier to see what you’re looking for. And for some reason, bright colors are not something I’m likely to lose or leave somewhere.

For this group, this year their cases will coordinate with the glasses they are getting.

Reader glasses are available in many powers, and in our group, the common denominator seems to be 2.5 diopters. These cases will outlast the glasses.

My original case for my glasses - well worn, and bright.

Here are some of the ways you can personalize this idea…

- You can make these cases to fit readers or sunglasses - or goggles for skiing or snowboarding.

- You can match the case to the person’s interest… are they a teacher? a nurse? do they love to swim? Do they have a favorite color? A favorite place? Did you take a trip together? I know one of my favorite souvenirs from trips I’ve taken is to collect fabric. Do they love to cook? A favorite sport or team?

- If your gift of choice is a gift card, this is a great way to wrap their gift.

- These make perfect stocking stuffers.

- They are mailable or shippable
