Art Chain - Prism

In my effort to blog more consistently, I'm going to actually expand on something going on over on my Facebook page. I was tagged by my friend (and fellow quilter) Jackie to be part of an Art Chain. It gives you an opportunity to showcase your art, and then to tag a friend.cropped and watermarked (2)

Last week's piece was called Size Matters, and  that's not a reference to what you're thinking it is - it's a reference to Prism (shown at left).

This piece is made out of scraps, and was literally created when I played around with various orientations of the geese on my design wall. Like many of my pieces, it kind of evolved... Prism is what happens with 144 scrappy 1" x 2" flying geese.

I have to admit it, I love the way it looked - and I knew that very early in the New Year I'd be working on the Blog hop for Island Batik - that's one primary difference between the two.

The other main difference is the size of the Geese blocks - they are made exactly the same, but the blocks are 3" x 5", and thelayout is unique in this one. The fact that it's made from batiks rather than by cotton gives this piece a completely different feel. It's a good sign when my husband says that he wants this to hang in the family room!

I'm tagging my friend Valarie Poitier to share what shes been working on.
