The Art Chain - Day 5 - Lake Shore Magic

The last entry into this week's Art chain is Lake Shore Magic, my first original pattern design. Many of you have seen this before - it's from the July/August 2013 edition of the magazine, and it is the first quilt I ever had professionally published - what's that old saying about you always remember your first?Quilty Article pp 22-23 I chose this one to be the last entry into the Art  Chain for this week beacause of a post that Mary  Fons made in her Paper Girl blog earlier this month; Quilty is closing. The magazine will be closing with the May/June issue later this year.As Mary said in her blog, there are many magazines out there, but Quilty was the only one targeted to the beginning quilter.  As I read here blogpost, I realized that this magazine was in fact, her vision for reaching new quilters, a group we definitely need to reach for the craft to continue and to flourish. It's genuinely something that has made me proud and sad at the same time. I am proud to have been a part of this venture, and sad that it has come to an end.LSM quiltedI wish Mary well in her next adventure - I love reading her blog.Pic with Mary Fons at LQF panelAn Art chain needs a beginning and an end - so on day 5, I am nominating Maryellen McAuliffe to come and play!Have a great weekend.
