Island Batik Sock Hop Blog Hop

Welcome to Day 4, and my little corner of the world here in New Hampshire!  I'm Linda Pearl of The Patchwork Pearl, and this is my blog for quilters..  I've been having a love affair with the flying geese block all year, and I've made it in circles, with templates, without templates - and back again!  When Island Batik asked us if we wanted to participate, I knew I wanted to play with this shape again. Here's my quilt - I called it Size Matters.Size Matters Watermarked  So, about the name...this is a new interpretation of a quilt that I did in the fall out of scraps. That quilt was called Prism, and it's made out of 144 blocks sized 1" x 2".  One of the first decisions that I made when I planned this version was that the block size was going to be larger - hence the name. 002The finished size of these blocks is 3" x 5.5"  (although you can construct the blocks in any size that works for you.  Although I've done it in multi colors here, the next time I try it I might look at shades of a color. Can you see the flying geese - the geese are colored, but the skies of all of them are done in an Island Batik neutral.  I used several shades of Island Batiks' Blenders  and Basics lines - you can find them on the Island Batik webpage. For Size Matters, I chose a new (to me) construction method called the One Seam method - here's the Ricky Tims video from You Tube walking you through it.[embed]http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78Mu0C_QL8Y[/embed] Don't forget to check out the other Island Batik Sock Hop designers - I'm honored to be in their company.Jan 12 - Island BatikJan 13 - Susan Vassallo Quilting ArtsJan 14  -  Freemotion By the River Jan 15 - BeaquilterJan 16 - YOU'RE HERE - Welcome!Jan 17 - Mary Mack's BlogJan 18 - Happy Cottage QuilterJan 19 - Kauffman DesignsJan 20 - TamarinisJan 21 - Bejeweled Quilts Jan 22 - Six Gables Designs Jan 23 -  Purrfect Spots Jan 24- Inchworm FabricsJan 25 - Sew Fresh QuiltsThank you for stopping by, and I hope you'll come by again...Linda
