Some thoughts on Christmas decorations
Dear Santa...I know it's been a long time since I wrote you a Christmas letter, but there's something different about this year. Maybe it's because we're having a granddaughter early in the new year - I know I'm looking at pink, and sparkly in a totally new way. So Santa, would you be willing to grant this ole little girl a wish this year - and bring me an antique dress form and some clean chicken wire?I hate to be a pain on the 'clean' chicken wire - but well, it is what it is. I really don't think I could get on board with upcycled chicken wire - the dress form is another story. So you might be thinking to yourself that this is the most unusual pairing of items for Christmas you've seen come out of this house since Chris decided that old comic strips from the paper were the best wrapping idea ever. It's simple, I want to build myself (and Hadleigh, my yet to be born partner in crime!) a Lady Noel.Lady Noel is my name for the latest craze in holiday decorating - and Oh my word - I love them. I'd put one on the front lawn if Mike would let me. You take the dress form and wrap the skirt in chicken wire - and then add evergreens and holiday decorations to the skirt. I saw this idea for the first time this fall, and I adore it. I think they are fresh and fun, and everything I want my season to be this year.If either Mrs Claus or the elves want a visual, there's a great blog called Mannequin Madness that showed two examples from the White House last season.I know you generally have found my name on the Nice list over the years, but about the Lake incident - I can explain! All the Best to you and Mrs. C.Linda
