Monday Musings - Teal Mini Swap 2015

Happy Monday! I am delighted to be participating in this week's blog hop to celebrate EvaPaige Quilt Designs annual event to support Ovarian Cancer awareness, this year known as the Teal Mini Swap 2015.  This is the 4th year that Beth has run an online event to support Ovarian Cancer awareness in September.  This year, her partner in the event was Blank Fabrics, and with their help, she was able to sent $2000 to Ovarian Cancer Research - and she had participants in 46 states.  Each year it is a larger success than before, and I can't wait to see what next year brings. There's a teal Giveaway in it for you - keep reading! We asked Beth to put together a very last minute blog hop with several of us who participated, and this week several of us are blogging about the swaps we participated in:October 12 - Twelo Quilting and wait, you're here!October 13 - Susan Brehm and Books Hooks Sticks EtcOctober 14 - Teachpany and Bobbin's LullabyOctober 15 - Splitting Stitches and Purple Leaf QuiltsOctober 16 - Blue Ribbon Sewing and Quilt Art by MeganBefore I get to sharing pictures of my swaps, can I just get a little love for the wonderful ladies of the 2015 class of Island Batik Ambassadors?  I posted a short blurb about this swap in the Ambassadors FB group, and I was thrilled to see several of them pop up over in the Teal Group!  I have the best job in the world, and I work with the best people. If you remember, September was a packed month for me (but really, when isn't?) and I wanted to send my rug onward early. I had a feeling it was either a now or never kind of deal, and I was quite pleased with myself that it went out by the 6th or the 7th.  Something done ahead of schedule is possible. My swapmate wanted bright colors - and I hope she liked what I came up with.  It definitely ticks the Bright box, that's for sure!20150907_125914_resized_120150907_130107_resized

I'm a strong believer in multi-tasking, whenever I can...I used the fabric pens purchased for the wedding quilt to label the back...they worked great!

Just about the time that I was beginning to feel the post wedding effects, I received the nicest package in the mail from Eleanor, my swap partner in VT. It's somewhere between a mug and a  mini, but it's the perfect size to sit on my island in the kitchen - the  centerpiece in the heart of my home.

20150917_145901_resized_1I'm proud to have participated, I'm proud of Beth for stepping into her own power for this, and I am proud of all of us for having done good in the world.  I'm also heading to Quilt Market next week with a sticky note for the 4 states that we need participation in.In recognition of this, I'm giving away 4 Fat Quarters (the first picture in the post) if you leave a comment (and an email address so I can reach you) below - Have you gone Teal in some way last month?  I'm always looking for ways to raise awareness of the disease, and funding a cure.  The post will be open until Friday at noon...stay tuned.Lest you think that's the ONLY blog hop I'm in this month - au contraire, my dears...There's one more stacked righ behind this one!  Check in on the blog later this week - I'm shooting for Wednesday.  Have a great week!
