Monday Musings - I believed I could...
So I did.I received one of those jars that you put your accomplishments in, throughout the year and empty the jar out when you complete the time. I have had this jar on my desk for several years, without really using it, but this fall I decided that I needed to incorporate it into my productivity system. The system starts on my wall - I was inspired when I saw the sticky notes of Matt Sparrow on his wall, so I incorporated that - on a much less grand scale - in my workspace. I can't explain it, but there is something that works for me - which is the whole point in an organizing system - in having my goals (and a deadline) listed out in front of me at eye level. I allows me to cut through the crap and get stuff done. Here's my wall today, before I turn the calendar and begin mapping out plans in detail...That is woefully bare - I'll be posting a link in to the board tomorrow morning once it's done.So bearing in mind that this really took off last fall, what was in the jar?A mishmash of creative goals, business goals, event goals...you name it, it got done. Somehow. I am not at all unhappy with the volume of things that were accomplished in Q4. Now the goal is to take a longer range view and incorporate that into better flow, more consistent cash flow and more visibility. This week allows me some downtime to think, to reflect and to plan.FY2015 is in the books, and 2016 started today (I might have signed some contracts in between putting Christmas decorations away). You just have to stay tuned.Happy New Year to you all! How do you keep it all together? How can I help you figure it out?
