Meet Lake Shore...Sister!
Greetings! We're still stuck in the deep freeze here, but the countdown widget on my phone tells me it's only 8 days to spring. My math says 82 days down, 8 to go - although as I look out the window and see the snowflakes falling, I'm inclined to go back to bed until June. Here's hoping the calendar is more or less right. When I was creating Lake Shore Magic as a pattern (the one that ultimately wound up in the July/August issue of Quilty ), I had several friends working as pattern testers for me. There were actually several versions of the quilt top made - in various configurations. This is the story of Lake Shore...Sister.Lake Shore Sister (or LSS, going forward) is an exact replication of the original scrap quilt, but this one was made with only two fabrics. Just as sisters with the same parents can be very similar but also very different in temperment and nature, Lake Shore Sister is, in it's own right, a uniquely beautiful piece. The quilting which was done by Terry Burris of Merrimack NH highlights the open space feel of this quilt. The pattern tester on this piece is my sister-in-law Nancy Cote, which further continues the sisterly theme. This was a quilt which named itself in that regard.LSS is being donated to the Silent Auction of the High Hopes Foundation of New Hampshire's Spring Gala as a Fundraiser. The Gala will be held on Sunday April 13th at 4 PM at the Nashua Country Club. This worthwhile charity grants wishes to children with serious illnesses through their Hope Happens campaigns. I am thrilled to be able to contribute to their good works by contributing a piece as special as Lake Shore Sisters is. I will be attending the auction in person, and encourage those that are able to support their worthwhile endeavor.Information about the Gala can be found here. You will be hearing more about one more sibling in the family later this summer.
