A lunch I've been waiting for years for...
Good Morning from Houston...I've heard Quilt Festival described as Disneyland for Quilters, and from what I can see, that's not far wrong. It opened last night, and the sights and sounds I've seen already show that this was an accurate description. I spent last night working in the booth for Mistyfuse brand fusible web (as a quilt designer, I use the product in my designs, and I have loved it for years), and I got a chance to interact with many of them. This was the opening night of the show, and the day was a long one, but one I absolutely loved doing it. Each day at Festival will bring something new, and today already promsies at least two new adventures - and I haven't even left the hotel yet.Last week, before I left I had left, there was a hotel shuffle at the last minute - my planned roommate for Festival had an unexpected family issue come up, and had to cancel at the last minute. In the days after, I worked several other options for roommates, and in the course of that, I met several new internet friends. It didn't look as if it would work out, buttwo nights ago I got a text message from one who had an opportunity to extend her stay, and I am looking forward to meeting Paula hen her flight lands later today. My other adventure today is that I will be attending this afternoon's luncheon with Karey Bresenhan, the founder and Director Emeritus of Quilt Festival. For as long as I have loved quilting, and followed the business of quilting, I have been a huge fan and follower of Mrs. Bresenhan - she is a key player in my Ten Quilters you should know and why Lecture. Mrs Bresenhan is responsible for the experience we have with both Quilt Market and Quilt Festival, and has influenced our shopping experience in our own local shops. Today's lunch for me is very much a 'bucket list' item, and the event that before I left I was looking forward to the most. I promise you, there will be pictures. On another note, yesterday was the first time someone else besides me used #Lindapalooza...I'm happening!
