Monday Musings - Everything old is new again

Pantone made their color choice(s) for Color of the Year 2016 known recently - this time, it's a complimentary color scheme called Rose Quartz and Serenity.  Or as I called it in the 1980's, Dusty Rose and Williamsburg Blue.  This blanket (below) is pulled from the cedar chest at the bottom of my bed, a relic from the 1980's...if I regifted it this holiday season, would people wonder how I put my hands on the new colors so quickly?pantone color of the yearSeriously - this was my bedroom color scheme when we moved into the house.  Actually, it's what I aspired to when we moved in - I think we arrived sometime in the 90's.Pantone's colors are designed to influence everything from clothes to home decor colors to quilters fabric.  I haven't run out at anytime in the past two cycles to incorporate 'the' color into my stash, and that's not likely to happen any time this year...it will emerge organically, if anything. This is a much more muted palette than the last two rich hues that were selected, and I tend to gravitate more towards the jewel tones.  Even as the color pink - in all it's tones - is something I'm naturally revisiting as I get ready for my granddaughter's arrival next year, pastels - not so much.Looking ahead to 2017's color choices...
