(Tipmas) Reinventing a Holiday Tradition, 2020 style

Tonight’s blogpost is going to be very short and sweet - but come back tomorrow (12/21) and I’ll fill you in on my absolute favorite person in the whole wide world to sew with. It’s a great story.

But for tonight, like families across the world this year we are faced with reinventing and reimagining holiday traditions. Each year, over our 40+ year marriage, Mike and I have added one special ornament to our Christmas tree. We have rules - yes, I am that Mom. Nothing commercial, nothing sports team related…certainly nothing that I’ve seen has made me the least bit tempted. I had almost given this tradition up, and passed on it. My husband, who does most of the tree trimming these days, just gave me a look that said ‘That too?”.

The photo below is our 2020 ornament, and yes, I made it from scraps. I also made it with my most favorite person, and it makes me smile at the memory.

What traditions have you had to adapt to fit your family this year?

A 2020 ornament with a great memory attached to it.
