(Tipmas) My Favorite Color

My favorite color is, hands down turquoise (in all it’s shades). It’s the only color in my workroom which has it’s own stack (next to the true blues), and has made a liberal entry point into my wardrobe in jewelry, earrings, scarfs, and actual clothes. I even own turquoise winter pajamas.

It’s a happy, lighthearted color that I always enjoy working with - and it so much fun to work with it in fabrics and quilt color schemes. Under the turquoise pearls in the photo above, you can see some of my all time favorite fabrics - a Hoffman challenge - which, when you look at the chartreuse green in the photo, always makes me think it’s time for a margarita.

The color itself is associated with a very happy memory. The first time that I remember seeing this color was on my honeymoon in Bermuda. I quite clearly remember seeing the ocean and this breathtaking color for the first time…I also remember a hot pink dahlia plant on the same trip. It’s funny how memories like that can influence you.

I’m currently working on a secret sewing project - which will be unveiled during the new year - which allows me to use the color as a background for a quilt. I am quite happy with it as a supporting player in that project.

What’s your favorite color - and do you want to play with it as often as you can? That’s me!

A recent project bag, and when I went looking for a fabric in the stash - this leapt out at me. It does make me smile.
