I’m a Sew Kind of Wonderful CI!
Today, I am pleased to share that I have received my certification to teach classes from Sew Kind of Wonderful, the brand known most for their Quick Curve Ruler. There was a time when I spent time working in a booth at shows, and I’ve had the opportunity to see several of their trunk shows in detail. I have always been fascinated with their vibe - and their designs, and I have pieced several of their patterns for my own use.
Why did I decide to persue certification? I know that these rulers and patterns are popular with quilters, and they really do facilitate quilting with curves. I am excited to bring out classes shortly - online at first (from the privacy of your own workroom!) and then potentially in person. Look for some of the get started classes to be posted next week!
The next quilt I will be quilting once ‘NeverEnding’ is completed is their Color Love quilt, which might possibly be my favorite quilt ever. I am taking my time on that one.
It took me a bit to determine how I wanted to quilt this one - what thread, and How? The thread is easy - I have a monofilament thread by Aurifil that is clear for the colors, and a Superior thread that will work on the background. The piecing ruler has a quilting ruler, which is designed to work with both a domestic machine and a longarm, called the Mini-Curvit ruler. It’s very easy to work with on a domestic - as long as you have a ruler foot! Trust me, I’ve been practicing!
Many of us know that Sew Kind of Wonderful is known for their curved piecing…but did you know that’s not the whole story? They introduced a new pattern recently - using not curves, but rectangles - called Diamond Daze, and I absolutely love the feeling this one gives me. My version is made using black as a background (!!), and so far. so good.
So I would love to know - do you piece curves or do they scare you?
